To chop, or not to chop?

Ugh. UGH. I'm having one of those "dammit hair, why are you so awkward all the damn time for damns sake!" moments.

I have been toying with the idea of chopping it all off, reverting back to the hair style I rocked through college and through most of Uni.

So, to have some perspective on it, here are a few snaps of my hair as it appears at this moment in time (or at least between August and November).

And here are some ideas of how I want my hair styled:

I am not even considering bleaching it, just to alleviate your fears before they appear.

I have naturally curly hair, and when its wet and short it dries in Marcel/finger waves so it would mean I could save time in the mornings by doing absolutely nothing to it...

I'm visiting my extremely talented best friend in London on Friday, who happens to be an extremely talented hair stylist to go along with it. With that in mind I trust here entirely not to make me look like a moron, and do some kind of variation that frames my face and makes me look glamorous and amazing and perfect (ish).

The ultimate question, after growing my hair for a good 3 years has to be.... To chop, or not to chop?

Tick, tick, tick, boom!

I had these little lovelies for Crimbo from my Nanna Moon.

They are Bath Tulips from Bomb Cosmetics. They claim to have up to 4 uses to each tulip! Unfortunately, I have the constant notion that MORE IS BETTER, which is rarely the case, however I still managed to use a half in one bath, instead of a quarter.

So today, I used the one on the far left, the Pearl's a Zinger Tulip. They claim to be a "marvellous moisturising moment"... Ideal for a thirsty winter bod? I was concerned initially when I got into the bath and within about 10 minutes the water started beading off of my skin... I was convinced I'd get out looking like an oil slick. I'm pleased to report that my skin (now dried off and nestled in brand new pyjamas) is super super soft! It's the same kind of softness I'd get from rubbing baby oil into my skin in the shower, and then moisturising - neither of which I've done today...  Hurrah!

Four super soft baths out of £2.99? A steal! Plus *unpopular opinion time* I am not a fan of Lush, I don't find any benefits to the products I've tried, and the smell hurts my brain, but I now get to play bath bomb bingo!**

The Gypsy Rose Tulip is just too adorable.

**Bath Bomb Bingo may not actually be a "thing". I just like to feel like I'm part of something.

Festive talons!

Good Tidings, Seasons Greetings, Nadolig Llawen (for the Welshies)!

I have been terribly naughty, and almost entirely neglected my poor blog. Next week (with a week off work) you can expect about 12 posts a day, making up for lost time!

Now, on to the actual subject of the post... Christmas nails! I'm not one for fancy, snazzy designs, mainly because I'm absolutely useless. So, a tried and tested solid favourite instead! Red sparkles!

I used Sally Hanson Insta-grip base, then Rimmel 60 second in red (I can't remember the exact shade), a gold glittery Rimmel (again, don't know the actual shade, useless!) over that, then Sally Hanson Insta-dry top coat.

I'm not sold on the Rimmel colour... I only painted them yesterday and they've already started chipping! That's usually the case with that particular polish though, sadly.

Also, the Revlon glitter was FREE. Yes, FREE! Both Superdrug and Boots have a buy 2 get 1 free offer on Revlon products, with a free nail polish on top! 4 for 2, not too shabby.

Again, I digress. Back to the matter in hand... Look how sparkly!

Nails This Week.

A lot of blogs I follow post a nails of the day picture... But I haven't got the patience (or skills) to paint them daily. I tend to choose my outfits for the week, then decide which nail colour would be most suited. What I look for most is staying power. I use base and top coat every time. The ones on this post are new products to me so I can't really comment on how much I like them or how well they work just yet. That will be a post all of its own, later on.

The nail colour itself? It's a Maxfactor Mini nail polish in 26 Cappuccino. The colour is so close to perfect! Bright enough to be fun, and neutral enough to still be professional. I used two coats between Sally Hanson Insta-Grip base coat and a basic Rimmel top coat and the coverage is quite impressive.

I'm not very good at painting my nails so it does kinda look like I put the brush in my mouth, closed my eyes, and aimed it at my fingertips... I assure you, I didn't.

Will it stay put for the week? We'll have to wait and see.

A very warm hello.

My first post. This is me paddling in the blogging pool before I've learned to swim.

My never ending journey to self improvement (a little about me & what I'm looking for):
  • I am in that awkward mid-twenties stage where I still get problem skin, but I also have the beginnings of wrinkles to contend with.
  • I like wearing a lot of make up because that's how I feel comfortable. Thats not to say that I don't like the natural look; I would just need to wear a lot of natural colours for it to feel like it fitted me.
  • My nails are a horrible brittle, crumbly, flaky, mess. I blame it on my hands being almost constantly emerged in water at my previous job. At the moment I'm hunting for some form of miracle product that will fix them and gently nurse them back to health.
  • I am forever on the search for something that will combat the frizzy disaster that happens north, east, and west of my head
  • Ultimately I am trying to reassure myself that what's happening on the inside will happen on the outside. With that in mind I'm trying to be a bit of a gym bunny, polishing off Hair, Skin, and Nails supplements, and I've recently given up smoking (after 10 years, kill me now), and drinking alcohol in the hope of seeing some benefits in my skin.
I really, really like clothes. And shoes. And jewellery. There may be the odd post about that, too...

So, welcome. I look forward to reading back over this post in a month or two and cringing, massively.
